How to make your own sketchbook, journal, etc....

Shelli's technique.

Materials:
  • Ordinary printing paper
  • Scissors
  • (Uhu) Glue
  • Thread
  • Needle
  • Hammer and nail
  • Construction paper or other decorative media
  • paints/pens
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
Step One:

Create groups of 4 with the pages. Then fold them in half. Measure with a pencil one inch, then 1 cm spaces (about 10 cm down depending on the size of the paper you are using. Please use your own discretion.)

Step Two:

At each pencil marking, with the aid of the hammer and nail, punch a small hole. Only a small hole is needed so that the needle could pass through, thus, don't pound the nail. Tap it with enough force to create a small hole.

Step Three:

Thread your needle and begin to sew the pages together.

Step Four:

Do the same measurements on the desired paper for the book cover. Use your discretion to decide how big the space for the spine will be, depending on the thickness of your paper put together. Then repeat the process with hammer and nail and then sew in the pages.

Step Five:

Use some liquid glue to further reinforce and bind the pages to the cover.

Step Six:

Decorate as you desire... I put quotes on each page and turned it into a journal.
